It’s been awhile but I’ve made a fanmix here for the Soundtrack challenge at lands_of_magic






TAKE ME BACK: AN E/O REUNION MIX

I have fallen back into SVU and shipping Elliot and Olivia ever since Elliot Stabler made his return in season 22’s “Return of the Prodigal Son”. This fanmix centers around events that have happened since that episode and in Elliot’s main series Law and Order: Organized Crime, so spoiler warnings for seasons 22 and 23 of SVU and 1 and 2 of Organized Crime.

In Return of the Prodigal Son, Olivia Benson reunites with Elliot Stabler after ten years of not having contact in the middle of a rainstorm. In the very first episode of SVU, the two of them are shown at a crime scene in the pouring rain. The parallels between those two scenes make me think of this song and also just the emotional state between the two of them meeting again.

Olivia was understandably hurt by the way Elliot disappeared after the season 12 finale Smoked. In Return of the Prodigal Son, she has a confrontation with Elliot about this. This song I think represents Elliot’s guilt over his unceremonious departure.

In the first season of Organized Crime during a scene where Elliot is being subjected to an intervention for his ongoing PTSD issues, he inadvertently tells Olivia that he loves her. He repeats it later on in the series and I think this song really represents him coming to terms with his feelings for her.

Conversely, this song I think represents that specific scene from Olivia’s perspective.


Cringe (Stripped) - Matt Maeson

In the first part of season 2 of Organized Crime, Elliot has gone deep undercover. In one episode, he gets accidentally drugged and ends up going over to Olivia’s apartment. This song reminds me so much of that arc and that scene in particular.

This song represents the end of the undercover portion of season 2 of Organized Crime and Elliot’s attempts to getting back to himself and being there for his family and Olivia.

This song I kind of view as an overall theme for everything. I think Elliot is starting to realize how much he’s missed with Olivia since he left and his actions since returning haven’t helped much.
