It has been quite some time since I’ve actually posted something here and I’ve kind of missed this platform. I’ve decided to answer the
Friday Five for today.
1. Have you ever asked someone for their autograph?I have a number of times. When I was a kid, we used to go to a lot of the local fairs and see some of the musical acts performing, usually Canadian country singers, and got a few of their autographs. As well, when I was older, I got a fair number of hockey player autographs when the All-Star game was here. While he never played for my favourite team, my personal favourite experience was with Jarome Iginla. The organizers were really trying to rush people through but he was specifically taking the time to try and talk a little bit with everyone in line and he was just so genuinely kind.
2. What do you think happens when we die? This is something that I think about and honestly, I don’t really have an answer. I’m unsure what happens. Part of me would like to believe there’s some sort of afterlife or something along those lines but the other part of me also knows that it’s wishful thinking.
3. What’s your favorite action movie? There are a few action movies I do enjoy, but I think for this, I’m going to say
Bon Cop, Bad Cop. It is a hilarious Canadian film about a death that happens on the Ontario-Quebec border and so a by-the-book Ontario cop and a more rogue-ish Quebec cop have to team together to solve the murder. There’s a lot of really obvious allegories to specific NHL teams and people involved (but they obviously couldn’t use the actual names) and some just great jokes about Québécois and Ontario culture respectively.
4. What’s your favorite smell?I think my favourite smell is probably fresh basil. When I worked at a grocery store, my store used to sell little basil plants and I always appreciated the smell when I’d put them through at the cash. My favourite pasta sauce recipe calls for fresh basil and I always try and get some when I make it for the aroma.
5. Exercise: worth it?I think exercise is worth it if you are doing something you personally enjoy doing and if you are doing it because you want to, not because you feel some sort of social compulsion to. However, if you’re just exercising because you feel pressured to, I feel like it’s not worth it.
